Fluctuations and Simple Chaotic Dynamics

چکیده
We describe the effects of fluctuations on the period-doubling bifurcation to chaos. We study the dynamics of maps of the interval in the absence of noise and numerically verify the scaling behavior of the Lyapunov characteristic exponent near the transition to chaos. As previously shown, fluctuations produce a gap in the period-doubling bifurcation sequence. We show that this implies a scaling behavior for the chaotic threshold and determine the associated critical exponent. By considering fluctuations as a disordering field on the deterministic dynamics, we obtain scaling relations between various critical exponents relating the effect of noise on the Lyapunov characteristic exponent. A rule is developed to explain the effects of additive noise at fixed parameter value from the deterministic dynamics at nearby parameter values. * Present address: Center for Nonlinear Studies, MS B 258, Los Alamos Laboratories, Los Alamos, New Mexico 87545, U.SA. Chaotic dynamics and synchronization of fractional order PMSM system
In this paper, we investigate the chaotic behaviors of the fractional-order permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system. The necessary condition for the existence of chaos in the fractional-order PMSM system is deduced and an active controller is developed based on the stability theory for fractional systems. The presented control scheme is simple and flexible, and it is suitable both fo...

Cross section fluctuations in nuclear scattering are briefly reviewed in order to show the main important features. Then chaotic scattering is introduced by means of a very simple model. It is shown that chaoticity produces the same kind of irregular fluctuations observed in light heavy–ion collisions. The transition from order to chaos allows a new general framework for a deeper understanding ...
متن کاملUnmasking Chaotic Attributes in Time Series of Living Cell Populations
BACKGROUND Long-range oscillations of the mammalian cell proliferation rate are commonly observed both in vivo and in vitro. Such complicated dynamics are generally the result of a combination of stochastic events and deterministic regulation. Assessing the role, if any, of chaotic regulation is difficult. However, unmasking chaotic dynamics is essential for analysis of cellular processes relat...
متن کاملQuantum chaotic scattering in atomic physics: Ericson fluctuations in photoionization.
We report the first experimental investigation of quantum chaotic scattering in an atomic system: in strong crossed magnetic and electric fields in an energy regime beyond the ionization threshold, where the classical dynamics is an example of chaotic scattering. We find Ericson fluctuations in the spectra for photo excitation into this regime. This result constitutes the first observation of E...
متن کاملControl of a Chemical Reactor with Chaotic Dynamics
In this paper, control of a non-isothermal continuous stirred tank reactor in which two parallel autocatalytic reactions take place has been addressed. The reactor shows chaotic behavior for a certain set of reactor parameters. In order to control the product concentration, an optimal state feedback controller has been designed. Since concentrations of reactor species are ...
